This is not the first time we have mentioned Popper 2 for Windows Phone 7, from our previous post about Popper 2 you might recall it to be a close cousin of the good old Bubble Breaker from Windows Mobile. Today we will take a closer look at what the landscape only game offers for Windows Phone 7 gamers.
Popper 2 Gameplay Video
When you launch the game you get the option to choose one of the 3 modes available in the game.
- Frantic Fifty – race against time mode, get the maximum point in 50 sec
- Levels - multiple levels that increase in difficulty as you progress through them
- Marathon – pop till you drop.. you get the idea, keep going as long as you can, game is over when there is no valid moves left
As in bubble breaker you can pop groups of the same color that are aligned either horizontally or vertically. The more number of similar colored bubbles you stack up before popping them the more points you gain, so try to build them as large as you can. In Popper 2 you also have bonus pieces which do things like adding time, clearing a whole color, or an entire row or column, etc which can be a big help. You can go to the instructions page in the game to get descriptions of the different bonus pieces. The handy hint button lends you a helping hand when you are at a loss at what to do, but adding some disadvantage when you use it is something the developer might want to look at. Popper 2 also has some standout features the graphics look quite nice and with 5 available skins each of which looks fantastic on my Omnia 7. An online leaderboard that shows you the top scores over time ( day, week , month ) this puzzle game looks like its all set to be a instant favorite for all Bubble Breaker fans. Blue Rose Systems already has a similar game for the Browser and xBox.
The developer has a trial version along with a free version, the main difference is the prompts to buy the game in the trial, have been replaced with prompts to download the full version in the FREE version. ( why )
Disclaimer : The App is currently a Sponsor on 1800PocketPC.com ( our sister site ) , but the review represents my honest opinion of the game.
