Wordament : realtime multiplayer online word game [ review ]

Real Multiplayer games are a rare commodity on Windows Phone 7 Marketplace, there are a few multiplayer games out there but most of them are turn based multiplayer wp7 games but now there is a WP7 MMOWPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Word Playing Game) called Wordament. Wordament brings boggle to wp7 gamers but in a unique way, you dont play against AI but instead you face off other WP7 gamers over the internet.

This is one of that games that is very simple but insanely addictive at the same time. When you run the game for the first time you have to pick a user name , this is linked to your device. There is a short tutorial that will run you through the basics of the gameplay involved in Wordament. Its also available via their site.

The game board comes in a 4×4 board , so there are 16 characters in total. Your job is to find all the possible words using these 16 tiles in 2 minutes, points for each tile is shown on the top right for each tile. The interface is quite simple you click and drag your finger across each character and once you lift your finger the word is registered.

• If its a valid word it turns green
• If its a wrong one it turns red
• If you have already entered the word it turns yellow

The game also imposes a small time penalty if you are trying to randomly try different combination of letters in quick succession. After each 2 minute round the game shows you all the possible combination and how many words you correctly identified. Then you are presented with a leader board with the ranking for all the players then the game starts a new round. The leaderboard is limited to each round and is refreshed once the round is up. I have seen up to 40 players competing at the same time , the developers have informed us they can show up to 250 players per board.

To sum it up the game is great and all word puzzle fans will love it. If I have to made a suggestion for future version it will be the ability to send a game request to friends for private games , Wordament is an ad supported free game. Big thanks to @DavidK for pointing out the game to us.
