Tap Blox : something for the match 3 lovers

Tap Blox is a new match 3 inspired game for Windows Phone this genre is quickly taken up on most platform with lot of games. Very few of them do try to bend the rules of the traditional match 3 gameplay and some of them are high profile games like Bejeweled while some offer multiplayer capabilities like Colorblast while others might mix up the gameplay by offering something more unique like Murphid .. so where does Tap Blox fall in ?

Tap Blox is developed by EntwicklerX the same folks who gave us Swamp Defense and Dodge These Balls. These guys usually put effort in to the design of their games and the graphics in their game usually shows that.

Tap Blox is a very simple version of Match 3 that required the gamer to try and get the maximum points in the alloted time. The help section gives you the basic of the game , each time you break blocks of 3 more more cube you get more time , but if you make an invalid selection you are penalized for it ( by reducing the available time ). The more block you break in one shot the more time you get. The game does offer you some powers up along the way to help you clear the playing field. You can pause the game using the pause button or hardware back button , jumping out of the game does keep the game in a paused state in the background so you can get back to an existing game by resuming it.

Overall the game is not bad if you like the match 3 games then there is no reason why you shouldn’t give it a go especially since its a free game. But the game lacks the flair that might keep you coming back for more. I would suggest the developers add some elements like leaderboards , and unlock-able achievements to the mix and perhaps add exciting new powerups eg: I remember this iPhone game where you get a ball that comes up on the screen for a few seconds as a power up and you use the accelerometer to maneuver the ball destroying all the blocks it touches ( you could call that Dodge These Balls bonus ;) ).
