Quantum Jump
Quantum Jump is another vertical jumper that brings the doodle jump like gameplay on to Windows Phone 7. With an outer space settings with various kind of platforms floating around you control the fate of a jumping alien who want to get to the very top. So how does this Doodle jump inspired game stack up with the others on Windows Phone 7.
When you launch the game you will see that the game offers very little options , you only have the start button on the main menu. Click on that the game starts right away , it gives you the current score and and your all time highscore on the top. Leaderboard ( local / online ) are absent in this version of the game. Quantum Jump makes use of the hardware back button to pause the game and allows you to quit the game and resume from that point when you launch the game again, this can be quite handy when you want to play the game in quick bursts.
As in all vertical jumpers you have to land on the platforms and keep bouncing of them as long as you can and if you miss one you lose the game. The background in the game does change over time with various planets , satellites , etc popping in and out as you ascend. The game offers 4 types of platform and 2 powerups.
- Standard Platform – the standard platform
- Horizontal Platform – Keeps moving from side to side and you have to time it correctly or else you fall down to your death
- Breaking Platform – Breaks apart after use but gives your character a nice little vertical boost
- Spike Platform – avoid this , it kills you instantly
- Nuclei – try and collect these coz they add to your score
- JetPack – take a guess at what it does ;)
Quantum Jump Gameplay Video
I found the accelerometer controls to be quite responsive but the options to adjust the sensitivity of the accelerometer might be something the developer wants to consider for possible future versions along with an online leader-boards and social network sharing of high scores. The game is quite nice for casual gamers but if you already own a vertical jumper there is nothing new that this title offers but the developer has plans to add more content to it in future upgrades. Gameplay-wise Quantum Jump is quite nice and will keep you coming back for more and I think casual games like this offer a lot of replay value too.
