Great news gamers, 14 new Xbox LIVE Games will be announced for Windows Phone at Gamescom 2011 ( which takes place from 17th – 21st August 2011 ) last year at Gamescom 2010 we saw over 60 xBox Live title announced for Windows Phone, while the number of games might not be as attractive looking there are some nice games coming to windows phone and some great new features like multiplayer games ( and no not just the asynchronous turn-by-turn ones ).
In a recent blog post on the official Windows Phone Blog Michael Stroh outlined some of the cool new features heading our way , we have already seen some of these , we knew some of these were coming and now its all out in the open, head on past the break for the full details
Features heading to xBox Live
- Avatar Awardables: They are calling it achievements but wearable. After unlocking these item your avatar can wear them. Chickens Can’t Fly, is said to be among the first titles to feature them.
- Game Add-ons: In a game called “Beards and Beaks,” players can purchase extra mushrooms and other items from within the game using Microsoft Points. It looks like this will be more of a common practice for future xBox live games.
- Parental Controls: M-rated (Mature) games for us adult gamers, finally some blood and gore :D. The first M-rated Windows Phone title,“ Splinter Cell: Conviction ” is scheduled to arrive in the Marketplace later this fall.
- Fast Async: A new Xbox LIVE service coming this fall that improves gameplay for multiplayer, turn-by-turn (or asynchronous) Windows Phone games.

Bug Village – A game that iPhone and Android users might be familiar with . This is BUG VILLAGE, a tiny town where you build and nurture a colony of ACTIVE ANTS and BUSY BEES! Construct homes to attract PLAYFUL BUGS and direct them to the garden, where they can gather resources to expand your village. Feed your bugs to keep them energized and healthy. Add cute decorations and flowers to make the colony BUZZ WITH EXCITEMENT! Small is beautiful in BUG VILLAGE!
Burn the rope – is another game that comes from the iPhone / Android gaming scene . Burn the Rope is a challenging game where you try to burn as much rope as you can in each level. There’s a catch! The fire only burns upwards, leaving you to tilt and turn your phone to keep your flame alive! As you progress through the levels, you’ll encounter bugs crawling along the rope. Different bugs have different reactions to the flame. For example, the ant changes the color of the flame so you can burn different colored ropes, and the spider shoots out a web bridge so you can access parts of the level that you could not before.
Chickens Can’t Fly : a game that we believed was to be an indie title , is now to be getting xBox Live status. Its nice to see Microsoft approving indie devs in to the xBox Live club. a prequel to this game called Chickens Can Dream was released as an indie title.
Join the ranks of our scientists and see what chickens are capable of! Conduct experiments throughout five Laboratories and answer questions such as: Is there life after the butcher? Is Chicken afraid of Ghosts? Does frozen Chicken get dizzy? The core mechanics are simple – titling the phone while falling down an experimental pit, avoiding obstacles, using power-ups, gathering corn and checking facts. When you’re confident of your skill, try the Survival mode or take part in the Global Weekly Challenge! ‘Chickens can Dream’ was just the beginning. Now, ‘Chickens Can’t Fly’ is coming later this year to Xbox LIVE on Windows Phone 7, published by Microsoft Game Studios, bringing a whole set of new features:
- Over 50 levels across five uniquely themed laboratories: Hatchery, Butchery, Cemetery, Military and Physics
- Tons of wacky obstacles, power-ups and power-downs! So watch where you’re falling!
- Earn Xbox LIVE achievements and climb your way up the Xbox LIVE Leaderboards
- Try your hand in the Survival Mode and the Global Weekly Challenge and see how you place in the global leaderboards
Collapse! - The blockbusting, color-matching excitement of “Collapse!” returns with award-winning gameplay, all-new customizable characters, and fantastic new foes.
Gravity Guy - In a world where gravity laws were broken, a brave guy was held captive for defying the rules. Not happy, he decided to escape. Your job: guide him through a world of impossible mazes, flipping gravity at will.
Farm Frenzy 2 - If you think the big city is crazy, wait until you get a load of country life. Manage a wild and wacky farm by growing grass, feeding chickens, collecting eggs and taking your produce to market.
Fight Game Rivals – Become the king of kings among tournament fighters around the world. Enter different tournaments on distinct locations, earn credits and unlock devastating attacks and skills.
IonballEX - A modern twist on a classic Breakout-style game, all delivered in a unique steampunk style. This is probably going to launch tomorrow
Mush - We have seen this title a long while ago and it looks like its coming soon. This puzzle platformer (and Windows Phone exclusive) gives you control over how your character feels. Change their emotions by drawing smiles and sad faces, and by rotating or shaking the phone.
shoot 1up – a vertical shoot ‘em up game for the xBox 360 and now coming to WP7, this is another game we have seen in the past
Orbital - An addictive puzzle game that challenges you to destroy as many orbs as possible.
TextTwist 2 – From Game House, creators of “Bounce Out” and “Collapse!”, comes a more cerebral challenge: How many words can you form in two-and-a-half minutes with a handful of random letters? Figure out the combination with the most letters and move to the next level.
Toy Soldiers Boot Camp - Wage war on a tiny scale with four fun and addictive shooting gallery mini-games from “Toy Soldiers: Cold War”.
Kinectimals Mobile- Play with, care for, and fall in love with your very own Kinectimal cub. The hit Xbox 360 game comes to Windows Phone.
Do I even need to ask how cute Kinectimals look ? I can wait to get my paws on that
