iBlast Moki

iBlast Moki is a physics puzzler for Windows Phone 7 developed by Godzilab and published by Microsoft Game Studio as an xBox Live Title. The game which was already a huge hit on the iPhone crossed over to WP7 and we were happy to see this tile on the WP7 Marketplace but after going through the Marketplace review I had my doubts regarding buying the full version , so I gave the trial a go and 5 minutes in to the game I purchased the full game. According to me iBlast Moki is the best game I have bought on my Windows Phone 7. See the full review and I am sure many of you will feel the same.

In iBlast Moki the objective is to get the cute little Mokis to the portal, the Mokis are very lazy creatures and will not move so you have to use bombs, ropes, balloons, wheels and other crazy contraptions to get them to the portal. There are 6 world with multiple sub-levels in each of them ( roughly around 10 sub-levels in each world ). These worlds are visually quite different , which does not make the game boring after a while, you will also notice that in some of the world like ” Waterland ” the gravity is reversed and this has a huge impact of the gameplay , these little changes make this game a joy to play. The background music is quite appealing. The early levels are fairly easy and simply involve placing bombs in the proper location to propel your Moki to the portal, but soon you will find yourself using multiple bombs that has to be detonated with proper delay to navigate the Mokis to the portal. As you go progress through the world you will come across more contraptions including ropes, balloons, wheels which can be combined to guide your Mokis. The user interface is well thought out with pinch to zoom and drag to navigate and pan around levels. Bombs and other items are placed by a simple touch and drag from the right-hand side toolbar and you adjust the bomb timer with a click and rotate gesture and move around the bomb by clicking and dragging it around.

iBlast Moki Gameplay Video

iBlast Moki is a trial and error physics puzzler and you will find yourself repeating the levels multiple number of times before you get the correct path. In some of the levels where you have to use pinpoint accuracy to join various elements you will notice that the game will automatically bring up a magnification screen ( so even if the actual object is covered by your finger you can place it in the correct location ) little things like these makes this game stand apart from the rest of the games on Windows Phone 7.

There is no tutorial as such but the hints in each level will give you some idea .. An interactive tutorial could be added for the first few levels to get the players up to speed with the gameplay controls. The iOs version has a level editor, I have contacted the developer to see if the WP7 version will get this via an update . Once I get the reply I will update the review with that info. To conclude I love this game and would recommend everyone to at least try out the trial version and decide for yourself. As for the issues mentioned on the Marketplace reviews I haven’t had any issue yet. It works really well on the Omnia 7 ( not unlocked ).
