Drag Race is like the name suggests a drag racing game for windows phone. Its not a traditional racing game but if you are in to drag racing then this might just be what you need. The game is all about perfect shift timing and beating your opponent to the finish line in a straight strip of tarmac. Today we will take a look at this free game for windows phone and what it offers gamers.

Drag Race is a game by Phyron Games and offers a very simple and intuitive controls , unlike the traditional overhead screen view of the track and car or the first person helmet cam view the game takes a side view perspective where you can see the two cars racing alongside each other. The game is only playable in landscape mode is best suited for 2 handed play. With the left hand you control the shift down and nitro and with the right you can shift up and thats all the controls you have in the game. The controls are very intuitive and works well. You start out with a simple car and slowly race against other cars in level 1 and with the winnings you upgrade your car and try to take on the boss in that level. As you progress through the game you can upgrade your cars performance, each win provides you with money to upgrade your car. One things you will miss here is the ability to change the look of your vehicle.

There is not a lot of skills involved in this game other than getting the timing right for the gear change and the game does give you an indication as to when is the best time to perform a perfect shift, there is light that goes from green to red on the dashboard. The game involves a lot of grinding to upgrade your car and buying new cars, which could put off some people. Over all the game is fun at the start but brace yourself for some grinding to upgrade and get to later levels. That said there is some fun to had with the game and since its free , download and give it a shot and see for yourself.
