When we first came across the title I was prepared to write it off as another Doodle jump clone , but then I played the game and boy am I glad I gave it a go. See why Bubble Jump is currently my favorite pass time on Windows Phone 7. Bubble Jump has got a “gorgeous hand drawn artwork on a Ruled paper” look to the entire game. You are in control of Rutherford ( he is the cute ‘n cuddly furball , reminded be a bit about Orbity from the Jetsons ). The game is similar to some of the other titles we have seen like in the ” Doodle jump clone ” section but the nice sound effects , graphics and smooth gameplay puts this game ahead of the competition.

When you launch the game you can access the local high-scores, toggle the sound FX from the options page, and there is difficulty level or anything of the sort, you pick it up and start playing. The game will tell you you have to use the accelerometer to contol your Rutherford and then you try and land him on a bubble and they will launch him higher in to the sky. As you soar up in to the sky you will fly past balloons, birds, paper planes, hot air balloons and so on in the background. The game offers a few different power ups to aid you in your quest to soar into the clouds.

1. Small Bubble – the standard bubble , gives you a small boost
2. Colored Bubble – 10 in all, each one will give a temporary boost.
3. Hot Pepper – A very spicy power up! Rutherford sneezes, turns red, and takes off into the air.
4. Bottle Rocket – A two-stage power up: first, Rutherford rides the rocket as it launches; second, the rocket explodes sending a surprised Rutherford soaring!
5. One-Ton Weight – Sends Rutherford plummeting to the ground, so keep away from this one.

As you would have imaged the game offers random bubbles each time you play and the level is never ending, it will keep generating more bubbles for as long as you can stay in the air and there is a pause button if you need to take a quick break from breaking the bubbles. Now we have seen all the good things about the game lets see some things which can be improved in future version of Bubble Jump.

Some kind of online leader-board would definitely more attractive to social gamers. Though the game is cute and fun to play unless there are updates that offers different power-ups and obstacles the game will start to be boring over time. The good news is that the developers are planning to push out an update in a week or two and here are some thing you can expect in that update ( as provided by the developers )

1. More bubble ‘stages’ – We’re working on more bubble ‘stages’ (a bubble ‘stage’ is several phone screens of bubbles), to increase the variety, randomness, and replay value of the game.
2. More power ups - We’re working on more power ups. We’re not quite sure yet what the new power ups will be, but we definitely want them to be unique and more than just temporary boosts.
3. New Theme – We’re working on new art that will let users change the game’s theme. In our current version, we only have a “paper” theme. In the new update, we will feature a new colorful outdoor/forest theme that users will be able to switch to.

After the initial update, the developer is also planning on adding online leaderboard, achievements, and unlock-able items. And they would like to hear what you guys want to include in the game, so if you have a request don’t be shy.. use the comments below / contact the developers.
