Do you crave excitement? Thrills and spills? Or perhaps you prefer soaring romance and powerful drama? Because you won’t find any of those here. No, as the title might suggest, this is a game about bursting bubbles. Which means, unsurprisingly, that this is a puzzle game.

A fairly simple puzzle game, in fact. The core gameplay is easy to understand: you’re confronted by a screen full of bubbles. Any cluster of two or more bubbles may be burst by tapping them, causing any bubbles above them to fall down. Clear a column and any columns to the left are dragged one step right. You score exponentially increasing amounts of points depending on the number of bubbles removed: a pair scores two points, a trio scores six, and so on.

And that’s it! There’s no surprise twist to the formula, no wild idea to spice things up. There are three game modes – Classic (single screen), Marathon (each set of bubbles removed results in a slightly smaller number of bubbles dropping in from the top of the screen) and Rush (score as many points as possible in sixty seconds). Each has its own leaderboard, though as the screens are randomised, your scoring potential is different each time.

For more competitive players, there are also Multiplayer and Challenge modes. ‘Multiplayer’ is simply a standard Classic game, only with your score compared to another player’s (presumably using the same screen full of bubbles) – after completing the match, you have to browse through the menus to find out who won, and your scores are not displayed, making this a rather less impressive experience than you might hope. Meanwhile, Challenge offers the choice of either Classic or Marathon modes, with new, fixed screens (and a limit of ten tries per screen) put up every week, so that you can compete on a level playing field with the rest of the world.

It’s an extremely simple game, over in a few minutes (or, well, one minute, in the case of Rush mode). The leaderboards give you a reason to come back to it, and as a game which doesn’t require too much of your time or attention, it’s perfect for a quick break. And there’s not much else to say about it – it’s free, simple, and won’t demand much from you. If that sounds like the sort of game you’re after, then you can find it on the Marketplace right now.
