If you dont want to go for another sudoku or crosswords puzzle game on the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace, you are in luck as there are other puzzle games for WP7 users. One such game is Broken English. Broken English is a casual word puzzle game for windows phone 7. You are given a random word out of a possible 42,000-words and the game breaks up the word and you have to put the word back together letter by letter.

Broken English comes in four difficulty level Kid, Easy Medium and Hard. The game offers the user visual clues ( size and color of blocks ) to solve each word and will be quite easy in the kids difficulty mode and this will keep the young ones occupied with the game. When you choose the more difficult settings the number of visual clues are reduced and the complexity of the word goes up as well and it will prove to be quite challenging. When you launch a game you get points for picking the correct alphabets and you lose points if you pick the wrong one, you have the option to use hints, there is a penalty for using hints and the game will display your current score as well. Unfortunately there is no leader board and there is no way these scores related in to the gameplay. Say for example if you get negative sores and reach zero or go -ve the game still keeps going. I hope to see a bit more challenge added to the game, some thing like a race against time would work well with the gameplay. That said fans of word puzzle will find it entertaining. The game awards you points based on various factors like speed, correctness, etc.

One quick tip for players : You can gain bonus points for clicking a letter as it falls. Once you complete a word , Broken English will tell you if there were any other possible combinations using the given letters. You can also search for the word that you just completed on Bing.com from within the app. This can be quite handy if you want to improve your vocabulary and will help you to quickly check the meaning of a word along with various other info. The in game options allow you to toggle sounds and the accelerometer effect for the blocks. The clatter made by the blocks can be annoying after a while and kinda wish there was a toggle button to just mute that sound but keep the other sounds active.

Broken English supports a trial mode. In trial mode there are only 400 words available and you will be prompted to purchase every time you play.
