Birdy Bounce a fun accelerometer game for Windows Phone 7

Last week we told you folks that Birdy Bounce was free for a limited time, if you downloaded the game them you would have already figured out that this is a fun little game for WP7 that you play using the accelerometer. If you did not get the game here is our review for the game, it might help you decide if its worth the purchase :).

There are some games that is is a lot of fun to play but involves a very simple gameplay mechanics and Birdy Bounce is one such game. Those who have seen doodle jump on the iPhone will notice the similarity in gameplay. The idea with Birdy Bounce is very similar to other jumping/endurance games out there, you have to get as high as you can by jumping on platforms. Your little “birdy” character automatically keeps jumping when he/she hits a platform, and you tilt the phone to move left or right, you can move from across the screen by going in to the left and coming out of the right. Unfortunately in this version there are no obstacles along the way to stop you , its something the developer can include in future versions to make the game more challenging.

The game offers a local high score but no online high score, I hope to see that included in this game sometime in the future. Gameplay wise this game will appeal to a lot of users old and young and the constant urge to beat your own high score will keep you coming back to the game for more. One of the best things about the game is that its never ending coz the game will generate platforms on the fly as you jump higher and higher , of course its gets harder as you go up and if you fall you die. The replay value for this game is also great coz when you start a new game the level is randomly generated and it never gets old. For the asking price of USD0.99 I will recommend this game to anyone and everyone who is looking to get a casual game for WP7 that should have a good replay value.

Here is a bit about Birdy Bounce Gameplay : You control the movement of the Birdy via the accelerometer and try to land it on a platform. If you miss one you did and have to start over again. The game throws various different platforms your way. In the current version ( 1.5.0.0 ) we have 9 different platforms

BirdyBounce Platform Types

1. Blue – Default
2. Blue – Default + Breakable
3. Yellow – Moving
4. Yellow – Moving + Breakable
5. Purple – Fade in and out, only visible when the character is above the platform
6. White – Slowly fades out and disappears completely
7. Brown – Tiny as hell and hard to hit
8. Red – Deadly, instant death on contact ( your worst nightmare )
9. Green – Speed platform, turbo boost on contact ( your best friend )

Some things that can be improved with the game :

1. Online High Score
2. Obstacles along the way – maybe only in hard more
3. We would love to see more platforms :)
4. The ability to tweet your highscore from within the app , would be a nice way to brag to your friends about your skills and can even help promote the game
