So many people out there have got addicted to playing Bejeweled games that even my mum has heard of it & now it’s available on Windows Phone 7. No work will ever get done again! People will go into work, sit at their desk, get their phone out & load up PopCap’s Bejeweled for a quick game. Suddenly they will realise they have spent the whole day playing it, lining up pretty looking jewels, watching as they vanish, making way for more! Okay, that might be a slight over exaggeration, but this game is brilliant for Bejeweled fans. The whole UI looks very elegant. It’s very easy to play & lets you click on two jewels in turn or simply swipe in the direction you want it to go.
For those who don’t know what a Bejeweled game is like, you have a grid of pretty, shiny jewels & you have to line three of the same colour up by swapping two adjacent jewels. If you make a line of three or more, they vanish & the ones above drop down to fill the space, bringing more into play from above. If you swap two round & you don’t make a line, they switch back again & you have to try a different pair. As you go along getting rid of jewels, you gain points. After getting to a particular number of points, you go up a level.
That’s a description of the ‘classic’ Bejeweled game mode & along with the classic mode, there are also Action & Endless modes. Action mode is the same as classic, except you’re points start to go down again when you aren’t shifting jewels about. Endless is also quite similar to classic except it just keeps on going & going & going.
Another thing which you might have noticed is it’s called Bejeweled Live, not just Bejeweled. As you might guess, this means it’s an Xbox Live game, meaning you can get achievements as you go along, getting you a total of 200 Gamerscore (G) points through the game. I have to say I have never been that much of a Bejeweled fan, yet I’ve been converted whilst reviewing this, because it’s simply so addictive. Give it a go, you might be surprised!
