Pocket Revolvers is more of a novelty app than a game but it does allow you to play Russian Roulette on Windows Phone 7 which I assume is the reason why it appears in the games section of the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace. For the uninitiated Russian roulette is a deadly game of chance in which the shooter will place a single bullet in a revolver, spins the cylinder , place the muzzle against their head and pull the trigger. If they are lucky they will survive … one hell of a game ain’t it. As the name suggests the origin of this game was in Russia and I am sure many of you would have seen some form of this in some movie or the other. But now there is a non-lethal way to play the game on your Windows Phone 7.
In the current version you just get one pistol , 6-chamber Smith & Wesson revolver. By clicking anywhere on the screen you can bring up the cylinder and load bullets by clicking any of the empty chambers , clicking on a loaded bullet will take it off, clicking any where on the screen other than the cylinder will take you back to the main screen. If you click on the cylinder from this screen you can give it a spin , with some nice sound effects n all.
There are a few settings you can play with. Toggle the accelerometer controls for reload and fire, you can also enable auto reload. They are a few other placeholder for a few different guns but they are not enabled in this version, they might come up in future versions. If you disable the accelerometer control for firing you can click and drag the trigger to shoot, but if its enabled you can’t use the trigger to shoot.
To sum it up its a nice novelty app but there is no gameplay element to this .. if you are into the gun apps on smartphones you will like it , but there is only one gun to choose from but that should probably change in the future with updates and as a free app there is no reason why you shouldn’t give it a go.
