From time to time we come across some games with 8-bit graphics on Windows Phone, some of them are easily forgotten while others makes a lasting impression on us. Today we take a look at NinjaFish a new platformer for Windows Phone. NinjaFish is a casual game that you will enjoy in quick bursts , you don’t have to put any effort in to building up your character or leveling it up, you pick it up , choose a level and get cracking.
Trained in the ways of the ninja the fish seems to have learned the ability to hold its breath when it’s out of water for a limited time and can easily jump and multi-jump to get over obstacles. Our little fishy is lonely and finds himself in one corner while what I assume is his love interest is in the other corner , so the brave little fellas jumps out of the water and makes his way over to the other end jumping past obstacles and avoiding deadly traps along the way. To make things a bit more interesting and to add a sense of urgency there is a breath level indicator what goes down as soon as you are out of the water and if it runs out you die , but you can always jump in to a water to refill that.
The game also offers a secondary objective in certain levels where you can collect a bronze fish before getting to the gold fish ( an no there is no silver fish at least not in the levels I completed ). This is an optional goal and you can choose to ignore it and still complete the level. There are about 50 levels in total and they are progressively unlocked. The level section screen has got a nice touch to it but it could prove to be annoying if you have to site and scroll all the way to the other end to pick a level.
Over all I was happy to play the game and while the graphics was simple , it did work well for the game. That said I did come across a few bugs, which could frustrate gamers. You can see them in the video, I hope the dev will fix those soon. That issue aside the game was quite enjoyable.
