Nasty Nutz is another jump up style game for the marketplace similar to Doodle Jump or Birdy Bounce. However this game does differentiate itself by adding a mini game or two and keeping the levels unique as well as some really great visuals.

Like I just said the graphics in this game are really quite impressive. I like the overall look of this game and since it has a bit of a zombie theme I love the visuals even more. It’s very easy to see that the developer really put some time and thought on how they wanted this game to look. However, I can say that visuals are not everything.

I feel like there was something to be desired with the gameplay of this game. I felt like the physics moved just a little bit too fast. In the sense that I never had that moment where my character was suspended in midair for a second so that I could get my bearings on where I wanted to land. Rather it seemed that the game was doing a lot of it for me and it moved to fast for me to keep up. I felt like I was always either torn between, “Oh, I just beat the level” or “I missed that next Nut I was supposed to jump on…..I guess, that’s what must’ve happened right? Cause now I have to restart the level”
However redemption does come slightly in that there a couple of things that keep the game interesting. Little side games are nice and the one I want to highlight is the Zombie Roulette. This includes power ups that you are able to use in the next levels. there are a few things available on the wheel and as mentioned before I do feel that the gameplay is too fast and I found myself always crossing my fingers that it wouldn’t land on the portion to make the game faster.

This is another one of those titles that I think has some serious potential and with a few minor tweaks could be one of those truly epic games available in the marketplace.

The devs have just informed us a new update is out , where the gameplay has been changed slightly to address the reviewer’s points.

Thanks for the review! :)

Just a quick heads-up: we’ve released an update for Nasty Nutz, to fix the issue with the overly enthusiastic gameplay – it should be a lot more palatable and streamlined now.

Keep an eye out for an update notification in the next few days (while Microsoft validates the update).

Cheers
