Are you against ruthless dictators, warlords and terrorists ? Would you like to be in charge of 4 elite soldiers and take the fight to the enemy ? Like blowing things up ? If you answer yes to any of those you will love Expendables err Guns 4 Hire a new Squad Based Shooter for Windows Phone and Windows 8 by Rebellion Games. I think the splash screen gives the impression the idea for the game might have stemmed from Expendables. Guns 4 Hire is a freemium title , which means you can download and play the game for free but as you level up and want to buy more upgrades you will be asked to pay up .. of course you can choose not to do so but then the game will impose heavy wait time to regain health or buy upgrades.

You are in charge of 4 macho mercs Boomer, Faraday , Burns and L.T. each with their own specialist skills and weapons. The game offers you 18 levels of mayhem where you have to shoot your way through overwhelming number of enemies. If your standard wepoms does not suffice you can always call in special weapons from the trusted hand grenade and landmines to automatic minigun turrets to support airstrikes. You will run in to many types of enemies from the noramal thugs with AK47s to the ones with bazookas and the terrorist favorite suicide bomber and if that is not enough they often send in trucks with reinforcement and APC gunners. If you are luycky enough you might find Most Wanted thugs , they are a bit harder to kill but the payoff for getting one of them is always good.

The missions range from killing every bad guys in the level, rescuing POWs, reparing objectives behind enemy lines, etc. There are 18 levels to play through and you get Cash and Diamonds when you complete the missions , you can use these to buy more weapons or upgrade your team. According to the developers there are 20 separate upgrades per weapon.

The controls are super easy to get used to you just clcik and you team will move to that location and if you click on an enemy or destructible object they will shoot at it till it’s blown apart. You can heal your team as you play along ( as long as you have medipacks ) and you can continue the game till the last man falls. I tried the game on Windows 8 and it was quite nice .. I am not a big fan of the freemium model where it’s literally impossible to play the game without getting in app purchases and hope this does not turn out to be one of those.
