Fight Game Rivals

Fight Game: Rivals…..Wow. I’m really not sure if it’s entirely possible to say how absolutely horrible this game is. Graphics is the only area that this game doesn’t disappoint. I was at first excited to hear about this title. I was expecting something in the way of a mobile Tekken, Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. Those I don’t really play fighting games these days I would have welcomed the nostalgia that it would have brought me. I was sorely disappointed.

Fight Game: Rivals is a turn-by-turn based fighting game. I’m not advert to turn-by-turn based games by any means. Read the Steam Birds review if you don’t believe me. But this game is a true example of a game developed and published by someone who clearly has never heard the meaning of, or at least has a very skewed interpretation of, the word entertaining. Like I said, it’s a turn based fighting game and I can only assume that all of the disjointed controls and instructions were meant to have a meaning at sometime. But if they did they are clearly lost in this game.

The player is supposed to pick the fighting move that their playing will perform on the opponent, and somehow the random numbers on the sides of those moves are supposed to help you choose the best one to perform on your opponent but it just ended up being confusing and not really making any difference that I could tell.

Again the graphics are not a letdown which is more than I can say for the flow of the game. After picking the move that you are to perform on your opponent you are met with kind of a whack-a-mole challenge that determines how well your character will perform that particular move. Think of the button prompts in God of War.

What a disappointment to see a game like this makes its way to an Xbox Live title. While they are typically the best games out there, this one definitely deserves a pass to anyone that wants to avoid wasting time uninstalling a game in record time.

I might have not given this game enough time, but the trial really disappointed me. I expected a whole different genre to be honest, and I found the description and preview images slightly deceiving.
