The game is by MiniClip and is quite a nice title in terms of production value and gameplay. The in game tutorial does the basics but fails to answer things like what is a bulls-eye and perfect landing and I think they could have done it better. After a couple of rounds you will automatically pick up those things by yourself so I am not going to hold the lack of info in the tutorial against the game. Being an xBox live title you have got all the usual leader board, achievements , etc

The game has a in app purchase system where you can buy coins which in turn can be used to buy upgrades and new characters. I know many of our readers are not big fans of the in app purchase model ( I too hate those games where you have to wait x hrs for your energy to replenish unless you make in app purchase to get past that time block ) but I think the devs have implemented it rather tastefully. You can play the game when ever you want and earn game coins when you play. You still have to grind hard to earn those coins.

PS : I called the game Gravity Run 2 ( I blame that on Temple Run ;) ) in the video .. my bad its Gravity Guy 2. In regards to the different characters I am not sure if they offer any special ability that alter the game play .. those things are bloody expensive to purchase.

Gravity Guy 2 is an endless side scroller / platformer where there are multiple platforms and you have to jump your way across them and keep going as long as you can. To keep things challenging you have various obstacles in the form of orbs and laser fields along the way. You have access to abilities jump, double jump and lifts to help you on your journey. You will also notice that the coins go from bronze, silver and to gold as you keep going and performing things like bulls-eye and perfect landing gets you extra coins.

I did see some occasional issues while playing : one was the game does lag at times , which can be really annoying if you are chasing a high score. For some reason jumping or double jumping over the laser field will kill you ( even when you don’t in any way touch the laser .. use the lift to boost you up and you should be ok ). Those issues aside the game is fun to play and is something you should check out if you are in to casual games.

When you launch the game you can check out the various objectives the games asks you to complete, things like getting 5000 coins to scoring 10 million points are all in there. These are kinda like achievements that you might see in xbox live games, obviously with out the gamerscore element to it. There is a stats section where you can see how you have performed in the game split by single run and lifetime. The store lets you upgrade various abilities and powerups, you can also buys various other characters that you can use in the game. The powerups comes as passive and active abilities some things like Double Value coins after 1000m automatically kicks in, you get to pick up colored coins for more points after 1000m ( duh ). While some of the other powerups like the magnet , invisibility, etc comes up in your path and you have to jump to pick it up the effects of these powerups only last a limited time some make them count. The options screen provides some basic options you can see in any games , you can toggle the tutorial on or off from here. The sensitivity in there is related to the accelerometer sensitivity and NOT swipe sensitivity ( we have a lot more to talk about the swipe sensitivity, we will get to that in a bit ). If you like to take shortcuts and buy your way out of things there is a More Coin option for all your in app purchase needs.

So let us get in to the game and see how it performs , clicking on the idol from the main menu will make the adventurer take the idol and then you start the mad dash to the exit avoiding obstacles and collecting coins on the way , while the mutated ape guardians give chase. There is a vertical meter to the left that fills up as you collect coins and it adds to your multiplier score and the top right shows you the current score and coins collected. Collecting coins gives you cash that you spend in the store to unlock various goodies. The controls are quite easy to pick up .. your character will run on his own , perhaps even faster than Forrest. You can issue a swipe up command to jump this can be used to jump over broken bridges and what not , then you have the slide ( swipe down ) which can be handy if you don’t want to get bbq’ed on the flame arch or go face first in to the tree roots that has crept up all over the place. You will also have to turn left or right which is done by swiping in the desired direction and finally you can use the accelerometer for strafing and collecting coins. That is all there is to the controls.

In the game your goal is to stay alive as long as possible and collect as many coins as you can. There are many ways in which you can die in this game falling of the path in to the river, smashing in to a wall, etc which are all instant kills . If you stumble up on a root the guardians chasing you will come up right behind you on the screen and when they are there and you stumble once more you are a dead man.

When the game was initially released everyone was playing it and it was fun competing against your mates and when you have a good score you get bragging rights till someone else beats your score, but that craze has passed along and not a lot of people play Temple Run these days that said the game is still very enjoyable when it works properly. On my lumia 920 the game seems to have a weird issue of not registering the swipe left and swipe right command, it works fine most of the time but then when it fails to work you don’t turn and fall straight in to the waiting mouth of a hungry crocodile and thus ending your hopes for getting that high score and this can be really frustrating. From the looks of it ( reading through the rating the game received ) I am not the only one with this issue and perhaps its only limited to Lumia devices. When you fire up Archer you got all the usual setting like toggle sound and vibration , a how to section which runs you through the game mechanics using a series of images, a leaderboard that gives you the local and online results which is powered by Scoreloop. When you hit on play you are presented with 3 gameplay modes

Singleplayer : If you are like me this is probably where most of you will spend your time. A straight up time trail mode where you get 20 seconds to take as many shots as you can and the idea is to rake in as many point as you can. Each time you get a bullseye you get an additional 2 second time bonus. The controls are pretty straight fwd, click and drag the arrow to pull and as soon as you begin your hand will begin to wobble . Now you got to take the wind in to consideration line up the shot by moving your finger and when you take your finder off the screen the archer releases the arrow. After a few tries you should find the best spot on the screen where you would want to click and drag. To keep the game interesting you will notice that the target will also move in some rounds. Once the time is up the calculates your score, the scores are calculated based on where you land your arrow , closer to the center gives you more points.

VS : Same as single player but with 2 players, unfortunately it’s not a multiplayer game but just 2 player on the same device.

Training : This is the practice area where there is no countdown timer, so you can go in here to practice and improve your archery skills.

To sum it up , its one of those average casual game that can be fun at times, for a price of $0.00 you can try it out for yourself and decide.

Second Chance Gameplay

The presentation was very spartan in nature, the sound and graphics was not that great but something about these quick 5 session round was quite appealing to me and I found it rather enjoyable. You start the game and you get five lives and then you see a small device on the screen that will tell you what mode of game it is , depending on that you swipe or tap the scree or tilt the device to complete the level. The first few time you play you will take you time to figure out what is it that you exactly need to do in each of these levels but once you get the idea you can easy complete most levels.

To keep things interesting the game increases the speed after a few level and then throws you a boss level , if you complete that level you get one extra life. Once you run out of life the game is over and you can enter you score on to the leaderboard. That pretty much sums up the game, definitely worth a look if you are in to casual games.

You get to play the drift career mode where you battle your way to the top to be crowned a DMC Champion. As the name suggest it’s all about drifting in this game. A successful drift is when a driver performs a controlled slide through corners while adhering to the racing line it involves a combination of driving skill, style and showmanship. The game is said to have rich 3D graphics. The gameplay involves racing and upgrading and customizing your ride. There are quite a bit of tweaking options available from installing aftermarket performance products to tinkering with suspension and weight distribution to find that perfect match.

ThinkInvisible Gameplay Video

When you launch the game you see a short intro to the game followed by the level selector screen , there are 9 levels in total I did not feel any sense of increasing difficulty as they progress. Each level offers 9 different puzzle for you to unlock. The puzzles only show up a small portion of the image ( which can be a logo or picture of a famous landmark or person ) and the number of characters in the word, with this info you have to guess the item. When you click on the picture a a small portion of the fog of war is cleared and you can see a bit more of the image , you get one more chance and another spot is revealed. The next 2 clicks will reveal the first and last alphabets in the word. If you still have no clue as to what the item is you are given the option to share it on facebook and twitter so your mates could help you out. If all else fails you can you can ask the app to reveal the answer to you ( you only have a limited amount of these, so use them wisely ). If all else fails just ask me and I will post the answers here.

The games has some nice audio clips when you successfully identify and answer a puzzle but some of them have a horrible static background noise to it which can be annoying, I wish they would tidy up the audio a bit so the experience remains pleasurable. Currently there is only a limited number of puzzle to solve in there but the devs have promised to add more to it soon , hopefully they deliver on it. The game seems to be completely free on Windows Phone unlike on the android where its a freemium title where 2 levels are free and then you have to purchase the other levels.

The game is not with out faults.. at times you will find that clicking on the field to add your answer might unlock a clue.. and the fact that the answer input screen does not show you the number of characters in the word, etc .. hopefully the devs takes notice of these and push out an update to fix them. To sum it up if you enjoy the Logos Quiz genre games then don’t miss this one, its free and the presentation of the game is quite nice.

The Path of Kara Windows Phone

When you launch the game you can instantly tell the game developers Anshar Studios have put a lot of love in to the project. The narrative part of it is text driven and with some animation thrown in to it, that along with the amazing background music will take you on a good story driven puzzle adventure. The game play is quite simple if 3 or more similar items are together you trace your finger across them and they pop giving you points. In some of the levels you can pop 6 or more items in one go to unlock special items like the time portion or a bomb which can help you clear items next to it.

The game offer 72 levels over 7 quest with varying terrains you start off in the village collecting fruits and supplies for your journey then you go into a forest to find runes, through a cave to kill a big bad spider , fire cannons to defeat a kraken, stack up a ladder, solve puzzles by breaking rocks and locks and so on. The game changes the background and the objects you have to match according to these levels which is a nice touch. The animated backgrounds in the levels adds to the story telling experience. The controls are quite responsive and works well.
